HOUSTON/MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - U.S. authorities announced on Tuesday a second death attributed to the new H1N1 flu virus, while Mexico protested curbs on its citizens and pork products in response to the waning epidemic. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas Department of State Health Services says there are now 43 confirmed cases of swine flu in the state. Texas Department of State Health Services spokesman Doug McBride said Sunday the latest number - an increase of 4 from a day earlier - includes two people in Fort Bend County, one from Guadalupe County and one from Bexar County.

Health experts were investigating a case of the virus jumping from a person to pigs, trying to determine if the disease was reaching a new stage. Hong Kong kept 350 people under quarantine in a hotel as a precaution even though no new swine flu infections appeared in Asia, and Egypt's attempt to kill all pigs as a precaution against the disease prompted pig owners to clash with police who were helping to seize their animals for slaughter....

The number of swine flu cases continued to rise yesterday -- with seven new cases confirmed in B.C., bringing the total to 22. Across Canada, there were a total of 34 new cases confirmed, bringing the national total to 85. All cases have been relatively mild, with the individuals either recovered or recovering.

BEIJING (AFP) — Mexican diplomats complained bitterly to China on Sunday saying about 70 of their countrymen had been placed under quarantine despite showing no signs of swine flu. As Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa called the action "unjustified" and warned Mexicans against visiting China, Ambassador Jorge Guajardo was refused access to 10 people held at Beijing Guomen Hotel.

ATLANTA (AP) — U.S health officials say there are now 226 confirmed cases of swine flu in the United States. The tally released Sunday by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention also shows 30 states now have cases of swine flu. That's up from the CDC's count of 160 confirmed cases in 21 states.

A 14-year-old girl from Barnet caught the virus from a person who visited Mexico. And an 11-year-old girl in Wandsworth tested postive after she travelled to the United States. An NHS London spokesman said: "Both cases are being treated at home with antiviral drugs and are responding to treatment.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico's H1N1 flu virus epidemic has passed its peak and is declining, Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said on Sunday. "The evolution of the epidemic is now in its phase of descent," Cordova told a news conference. He said the outbreak appeared to have peaked in Mexico between April 23 and 28.
